While Chrysler announced the details of sales in the third quarter, the CEO of the company, Sergio Marchionne confirmed that next year’s 2012MY Jeep Wrangler and Wrangler Unlimited would both be fitted with a new 3.6-liter V6 “Pentastar” engine. He also disclosed the making of the Dodge Sedan which is in line with the Alfa Romeo Giulietta hatchback model.
The first car to be fitted with the Pentastar V6 was the 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee model. Thereafter the engine has started to be fitted on many other models including the 2011 Dodge Charger and Grand Caravan.
The 2011 Wrangler which is going to be fitted with the Pentastar V6 also gets an upgraded interior. The existing engine on the car which is capable of giving just a 202 hp or 151 Kw of power makes the interior upgrades also unnoticeable.
The new engine to be fitted on the car would solve this problem as it produces 283 hp or 211 Kw power when fitted on a Wrangler and on a Dodge model it gives 305 hp or 227 Kw.
There was also talk about the Dodge’s upcoming compact model which would be based upon the Alfa Romeo Giulietta. Sergio Marchionne, during the sales call confirmed that the car would be a sedan and not a hatchback like the 2011 Dodge Caliber.
Marchionne while referring to the new platform and the next generation midsize sedans said that the new platform was set to “govern all of Chrysler’s C- and D-segment vehicles, both passenger cars and SUVs, for the foreseeable future”.
An amount of $600 million is what the Chrysler Group is spending to renovate the Belvidere Assembly Plant. It is here that the small Dodge would be entering the production which is slated for early 2012.
