Hertz Corp has named former Ford Motor CEO Mark Fields as its interim CEO, the company said on Tuesday.

Fields succeeded Alan Mulally as president and CEO of Ford in 2014. He left the automaker in 2017 and was replaced by Jim Hackett.

Fields joined the Hertz board of directors in June.

Fields is a member of Qualcomm’s board and is a senior advisor to TPG Capital as well.

At Hertz, Fields succeeds Paul Stone, who becomes president and chief operations officer.

Hertz had filed for bankruptcy in May 2020, after their businesses were hit by the coronavirus crisis.

In May, Hertz informed that a group of investors such as Knighthead Capital Management, Certares Opportunities, and Apollo Capital Management would fund the company’s exit from Chapter 11 bankruptcy.
