2013 Honda CR-V priced from $27,490

At the on going Australian Motor Show, Honda, The Japanese Brand announced the the pricing details of the new CR-V, which will hit the dealerships by November. The new Honda CR-V will be available with petrol engines for now, but a diesel will finally be made available late next year.

The entry price for the Base Model front-drive VTi comes in at $27,490 before on-road costs, it is expected that the model with all on road costs would fall for around $30,000.The front-drive Honda CR-V in comparison to the all-wheel-drive version, has a engine which is smaller, making it do with a 2.0-litre instead of a 2.4. with that this engine would generate 114kW and 190Nm and would be linked to a six-speed manual transmission. A five-speed automatic would feature in all other models including a two-wheel-drive VTi, the average fuel consumption is 7.8L/100km, while the automatic version returns 7.7L/100km.

The All Wheel Drive Honda CR-V would deliver 140kW and 222Nm from its 2.4-litre engine, and the only available transmission is the five-speed automatic with Paddle Shifters, and this engine would return 8.7L/100km.

The Standard items featured on the Honda CR-V would include, cruise control, rear-view camera, Bluetooth phone connectivity, hill start assist, front and side driver and passenger airbags as well as full-length side curtain airbags. The VTi and VTi-S models rides on 17-inch alloy wheels, while the range-topping VTi-L gets 18-inch alloys.

The features standard on the VTi-S models are, automatic headlights, rain sensing wipers, fog-lights, dual zone climate control, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, rear parking sensors, auto-dimming mirrors, roof rails and satellite navigation, and much more. While the range topper VTi-L gets for itself, automatic headlights, rain sensing wipers, fog-lights, dual zone climate control, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, rear parking sensors, auto-dimming mirrors, roof rails and satellite navigation. The highlight here is, that all models now score the maximum 5-Star ANCAP safety rating.

Honda Australia director Stephen Collins told CarAdvice that the company was keen to get hold of the more affordable front-drive Honda CR-V.

“We think it is really going to open up new opportunities for this car,” he said. “It means we can go up against the likes of the (Mazda) CX-5 and there is great potential for conquests (from other brands).” Honda expects that the AWD(All Wheel Drive) CR-V will continue to be the volume seller, predicting a share of 60 per cent compared with 40 per cent for the front-drive.
