Volkswagen on Friday teased the all-new Golf R and said that the hatchback will be premiered on November 4.
The Golf R will be the most powerful in the lineup as of now.
The vehicle will be taking the Golf family to its 8th generation. It is a tribute to the original Golf R32 (2002) which was quite powerful and was the first car of the automaker to offer a DCT transmission.
The automaker is expanding its sporty high-performance Golf line-up with the R joining the GTI, GTI Clubsport, GTE and GTD.
The Golf hatch is more dynamic, efficient, digital, and closely integrated. It will boast a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder turbo petrol engine from the EA 888 series of Volkswagen. The 8th gen Golf also includes an enhanced all-wheel drive with selective wheel torque control on the rear axle. The all-wheel drive system is managed by a Vehicle Dynamics Manager that combines the electronic front diff lock (XDS) and adaptive chassis control DCC.
The presales of the 2021 VW Golf R will start on November 5 just for the German and other European markets.
