The 2020 edition of the annual Birdsboro Car Show annual car show, a huge event that annually attracts automobile hobbyists locally and from neighboring states, has been canceled due to the spread of the coronavirus, club President Teresa Levandoski announced.
The show is a major fund-raising event for the Woman’s Club of Birdsboro, located in Berks County, Pennsylvania, United States.
As with many popular public activities known to local residents, organizers were concerned the car show – planned for September – would not be able to ensure social distancing required for protection against COVID-19.
Show proceeds give the money used for the club’s many community donations and scholarships. Its members are preparing a substitute event in the coming months in the hope that those contributions will continue, Levandoski said. Other special projects “will be set aside” so funds meant to help them can help launch a returned car show in 2021.
While Pennsylvania has a total of 93,015 confirmed coronavirus cases and 6,911 deaths related to the virus, there are about 3,428,462 people in the United States have been confirmed as being infected with the virus and it has killed about 137,613 people in the country.
