Even though Chevrolet Camaro crossed the Mustang through sales effected in April , Ford returned back in spate from the month of May.
Ford Motor Co has unleashed a very forceful advertising campaign. They are out to convince buyers that improvements effected within the 2011 Mustang are considerable even though the exterior does not have any changes. Steve Ling, Ford’s North American car marketing manager explains that the 2011 Mustang has an all new 3.7 Liter V-6 and 5.0-Liter V-8 engines. The output is to be equally shared by the two.
The Mustang is also equipped with a programmable key system named MyKey as also has the optional glass roof. Up until April this year Mustang has sold 20,836 units as against Camaro from Chevrolet which sold 29,907 units.
Ling went on to add that the Mustang had been hogging the first place on TV spot since 2006. However as far as annual sale figure goes the Camaro has beat the Mustang only in 1985 in its annual sales. Between 2005 to 2008 GM did not sell Camaro at all.
The V-6’s 305 hp, and 31 mpg highway fuel economy of the Mustang has been highlighted in the TV spot. On the highway the 2010 V-6 Mustang has been claimed to achieve 210 hp and 24 mpg. Ford is planning to use the pages of enthusiast magazines as well as the lifestyle magazines to promote the V-8 engine and v-6 engine through an aggressive print campaign. Social media events also are going to be used by Ford this fall for their promotional campaigns.
