McLaren says buyers from Europe will contribute to 50% of the MP4-12C sales

by Alex

Europe would lap up at least 50 % of the MP4-12C being manufactured by McLaren Group. This is the estimation from none other than the Automotive Managing Director of McLaren, Antony Sheriff.

Demand for luxury vehicles has once again started rising. To keep up with this demand McLaren plans to showcase their 12C at 50 venues starting in Germany on 17 June. Arch rivals Ferrari is what the 12C would have to outdo. The price of the 12C would be 150,000 pounds ($227,000) with 1000 units of the car slated for release in 2011.

2500 people have already registered for the car and they would now have to wait for a year to get their car. Sheriff from McLaren in an interview has mentioned about the general perception of people shrugging off the self imposed austerity cloak and getting on being a spend thrift once again is seen from the high demand that the 12C is experiencing. The car would be in demand as per him from Britain, Germany, US and then Asia and Middle East in that order. Sports car as a whole he has forecasted for a rise in sales by 35% this year.

McLaren boasts of the most successful Formula One racing team after the Ferrari team. For sale of their 12C they would be opening 35 dealerships in 2011 with plans to increase to 70 by 2015. This is to keep up with the increase in model range with passing time.
