No one would perhaps dare call the Porsche Panamera Turbo a slouch, the spirited performer that it is. But then, there are some who are always vying for more and it is for these group of people that APS have come up with a performance enhancement program. APS happens to be the UK importer of the Swiss tuning firm Sportec.
So what the folks at APS have in store for you. To begin with, there is the reprogrammed ECU which has its settings optimized for fuel and ignition. The turbo parameters of the V8 have been pushed up from 493 bhp to 560 bhp and the torque from 516 lb ft to 576 lb ft. The higher bhp is achieved at 6150 rpm while the torque factor is achieved at 3,340 rpm.
The acceleration factor therefore has been boosted by 0.3 seconds to read 0 to 100 kmph that’s 62 mph in 3.9 seconds. The top speed of the car is now electronically controlled and limited to 195 mph or 315 kmph. The price of this ECU upgrade is £ 2900 and this includes tax as well as fitment charges.
Sportec has also developed a second stage package for those who desire more. The additional factors are a stainless steel sports exhaust system. This has quad 90 mm tail pipes and a pair of sound throttles. This sound throttle pair allows sound level control by the driver and that too remotely with the provided remote control.
There is an effect on the power again which rises to 575 bhp at 5,800 rpm and a torque increase to 598 lb ft which is 820 Nm that’s between 3000 to 4250 rpm. Acceleration is claimed to be 0 to 100 kmph in 3.8 seconds. Top speeds now would be 195 mph which is 315 kmph. The price for this second stage package is £7,990.
There is other variety of upgrades that the company offers. Like the 22 inch forged alloy wheels a modified braking and suspension system as well as enhancements in the cosmetic sense to improve look of the car.
