The Porsche Panamera was already announced to be equipped with a hybrid engine, but now it has been announced that the Panamera will also have a plug-in hybrid variant. Mathias Muller, Porsche’s new CEO announced that they are also considering a turbocharged V8.
The PHEV hybrid was not built with the 3.6 liter V6. The car tested by Muller featured a 4.8 liter V8 engine which develops 500 HP, mated with a 34 kW electric engine. Though the V8 engine may seem a little too big for the hybrid it means that the drivers could leave the engine off in daily driving and turn it on only when they want to feel the power. Muller also said that only 918 models will be produced
