As Mercedes usually builds their Sedans, the S63 also has one of the most powerful engines in its class, and the luxury is broader than one would need.
The 2012 S63 AMG is powered by a 5.5-liter Twin-Turbo V8 engine that produces 563 horsepower and 664 lb-ft of torque. This power is managed by a 7-speed MCT automatic transmission. The top speed is limited at 186 mph with an acceleration from 0 to 60 in 4.3 seconds. This performance is possible in spite of the colossal weight of this car (4,916 LBS). The S63 does seem pretty thirsty, only going 19 miles every gallon, but that’s all right for a vehicle with such an engine.
Let’s cover what this vehicle is really about: the luxury. No doubt the performance is outstanding, but what really defines Mercedes’ four door saloons is the amazing comfort on the inside. Of course, all seats are covered in leather, which is a must in any luxury cars these days. The S63 AMG also features zone climate control (every passenger gets to have their own climate), massage and heated seats, more legroom and headroom than one can manage, power-operated window shades, COMAND infotainment system – and we could go on all day.
Mercedes’ new sedan has every high-tech equipment that the Germans could think of: Attention Assist, AMG stability control, pre-safe predictive protection system, advanced cruise control (monitors the car in the next lane and accelerates or brakes accordingly to it), and many, many others.
I must say, I am very pleased with what this car has to offer – and I’m pretty picky when it comes to luxury cars. The truth is, this is your best option of getting race-track performance and 5 star luxury in one car – and the cost price starts at only $140,174.
