German luxury automaker Daimler will recall 2.6 million Mercedes-Benz cars in China over a software design issue.

The software may fail to communicate a car’s accurate location in the event of an accident, China’s State Administration for Market Regulation said.

Last month Mercedes-Benz USA said it was recalling 1.29 million vehicles sold since 2016 over a same issue.

Mercedes sold 2.05 million cars globally in 2020. Its largest market is China, represented around 35 percent of deliveries.
