Only recently, a test mule from Jaguar had been spotted while idly sitting at a parking lot in the United Kingdom. The test mule was heavily covered in camouflage so as not to let go of its true identity. From the looks of it, the test mule was very similar to one of the best Range Rover models to date, the Evoque. However, for the trained eyes, they will know that this test mule is actually a production-spec Jaguar CX-17 SUV.
Judging by the exterior, the luxury British automaker seems to have made several changes to the design of the car. It only makes sense to think of this move as an effort to make the car suit the road better. Just as a reminder, last year, the company introduced the CX-17 Sports Crossover Concept. Unfortunately, the latter seems rather improper for road use. As a result, Jaguar has decided to apply some revisions to the vehicle’s headlamps and taillights. The rear hatch, by the way, is no exception to these revisions, either.
Apart from the changes, it seems that Jaguar will utilize its aluminum monocoque chassis for the second time on this upcoming SUV model. Previously, the company utilized the very chassis for its Jaguar XE, which is an entry-level sedan. Jaguar is referring to its chassis as the IQ[AI] which, according to the company somehow, means the same as intelligent aluminum architecture. The good thing about this very chassis is that it is easy to modify according to the company’s needs. This means it can fit the chassis onto just about any of its vehicle lineups.
As for the upcoming SUV spotted in the UK, its name still remains a mystery up to now. Chances are, however, that Jaguar will name it as either the Q-Type or the XQ SUV. Thing is, the luxury British automaker recently registered both names as an official trademark which belongs to the company.
