German luxury automobile maker Mercedes-Benz released an updated variation of its seven-seater SUV GLS 350d in India at a rate of Rs 80.4 lakh ($119,128). Mercedes, however, describes this automobile as the ‘S-Class of SUVs’.
The GLS 350 d comes geared up with the Apple CarPlay, which offers choices to make calls, play music, messaging, and offers access to pick third-party apps.
Looking at the design, the GLS sports a 20-inch 10-spoke light-alloy wheels that is said to improve the stylish appeal of the SUV. The headlamp design, is obtained from the GLE and GLE Coupe.
The design, as Mercedes-Benz states, would be assembled at the company’s Chakan (Pune) based manufacturing center.
Roland Folger, managing director and CEO, Mercedes-Benz said that India has growing fondness for SUVs and at 100 percent growth accomplished in 2015, it was the highest growing segment for the company.
“India has also emerged as one of the leading ten markets for the GLS globally,” Folger added.
This is the firm’s fourth model launch in the country out of the 12 prepared for this year.
The model, which is over 2,000 cc, would not be offered in Delhi-NCR market due to the ban made by the Supreme Court.
Calling the current uncertain situation surrounding diesel vehicles as a “lost opportunity for India”, the German automobile giant stated its investments will be impacted in the long term if the Supreme Court restriction continued.
