The Porsche engineers have done their best in turning the now 48th year “old” Porsche 911 in a modern and exciting one.
Based on the details we have about the Carrera and Carrera S model, we can definitely tell that the engineers have created a car worthy of being called PORSCHE.
A variety of differences can be seen, from the wheelbase that was grown about 3.9 inches more than its predecessor, a lower look but yet athletic and elegant at the same time with a drop of luxury.
The new body composed of a mix of aluminum, steel and composite materials, makes the Porsche 911 much lighter than before, the overall weight being down 100 pounds.
The Porsche 911 has some features which help reduce fuel consumption, the engine stop-start and electro-mechanical power steering.
The engine in the Carrera, is a 3.4 liter flat-six with 350 horsepower on tap, making the Porsche reach a 0-60 mph in 4.4 seconds, when equipped with the optional 7 speed PDK dual clutch transmission or reach 0-60 mph in 4.2 seconds when using the optional Sport Chrono Package’s Launch Control, reaching a top speed of 179 mph.
For the first time on the 911 Carrera S, the engineers added the PDCC (Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control) active roll stabilization system which helps reduce lateral roll when cornering, helping the tires in the optimal position relative to the road surface.
The interior has a beautiful designed derived from the cabins of the Cayenne and Panamera yet still remaining concentrated on the driver area with a rising center console and high mounted gear lever located close to the steering wheel.
