The new Audi A6 which was awarded the 2011 EyesOn Design title at the 2011 Detroit Auto Show achieved this exalted position due to its design features that included such features like elegant yet sporty proportions featuring a long engine hood, a low, sweeping roof line and prominent lines on the flanks that create an overall dynamic appearance.
This is not the first but the fourth time that Audi was able to pick up this award for one of their creations. This company also has the distinction of getting this award three times in the past three years itself.
They also had the added feather in their cap being adjudged the “Best Production Vehicle” during the event. This gives the company a big boost in value when it comes to automotive designs.
Achim Badstuebner, head of exterior design for AUDI AG stated “This is strong feedback that we have done our homework,” during the trophy distribution ceremony that was held.
Audi has bagged the “Best Production Car Design” in 2009 with their Audi R8 V10 model and then the “Best Concept Vehicle” title with their Audi Sportback Concept. This concept car was the inspiration for the A7 Sportback from the company. Audi then went on to pick up the “Best Production Car Design” title with their Audi A8 luxury sedan at the 2010 NAIA event.
From the look of things Audi is going to pose a big contender for all its rival auto makers for some time to come if they keep up with these beautiful productions.
