One of the most trusted sources of information in the world, Reuters, has recently unveiled that the American automaker, Chevrolet, has quite an interesting plan next year. According to Reuters, the American company is determined to begin production of the Bolt no later than next year. Slated for production in late 2016, the car will seemingly be produced by two suppliers.
Speaking of the Chevrolet Bolt, these two suppliers claim that the vehicle will actually get into the production stage somewhere around October next year. The car will be manufactured at the Orion Township factory, which is situated in Michigan, US. For your information, as of the moment, this factory is the one in charge of manufacturing the Chevrolet Sonic as well as the Buick Verano vehicle models. According to reports, this facility is so huge that it still even has additional rooms for the production of another vehicle model, in this case the Chevy Bolt. Opel, by the way, will also be getting its own version of the Chevrolet Bolt.
It is also said that General Motors is targeting to sell just 25 to 30 thousand units of the Bolt electric vehicle (EV). The car will supposedly come with an asking price of $30,000 and in terms of distance it can travel, the limit will be no less than 322 km.
Speaking of the Bolt, it is said that Chevy will be using the platform of its parent company’s Gamma, which is a small car. In fact, this platform will also be the one that underpins the upcoming model of the Chevrolet Sonic, also expected to come out by the year 2016.
The Chevrolet Bolt EV will be a 5-door hatchback. As such, it will most likely face pretty tough competitions from the likes of the upcoming Model III from Tesla and also the Nissan Leaf.
