General Motors said Wednesday it will increase a production halt of its electric vehicle Chevrolet Bolt for two more weeks as it works to speed up the production of new battery modules and prioritize recall repairs.

The automaker in August widened its recall of the Bolt to over 140,000 vehicles for replacing battery modules and to address fire risks.

The automaker’s Orion Assembly plant in Michigan, which builds the Bolt, remains idled since August 23 and will be down through at least the end of October.

Three weeks of production of the Chevrolet Equinox at its Ramos Assembly plant in Mexico will be cut due to chip shortage, the automaker added.
