A Chevrolet representative has informed that the Corvette Z06 won’t receive a next-gen version if sales of the upcoming model won’t improve compared to its predecessors.
Speaking to Digital Trends about the upcoming Z06, Corvette chief engineer Tadge Juechter said in simple and clear words that if they don’t get sales back up, there won’t be a next one. From what we understand about the statement made by him is that he was referring strictly to the Z06 version of the Corvette but DT claims that the Corvette could be axed altogether around 2020.
The 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 will be introduced at the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) that will be held in January in Detroit. The model will reportedly feature a V8 7.0-liter naturally-aspirated engine with an output of 600 hp (447 kW). According to Chevrolet, the new Z06 was designed to deliver super car levels of performance through unique powertrain, chassis and aerodynamic features.
But how far the company has been successful in delivering the performance is not very clear as the sales have not been supportive to the claim made by the company about Z06.
