Everyone out there knows that electric vehicles are becoming the trend these days, albeit the fact that the global oil price is dropping quite significantly. With that being said, it is really not that surprising at all to see people waiting eagerly for the global automakers out there to launch their next generation electric vehicle models. In this case, Chevrolet is one company that really deserves the hype and attention. The new Chevy Volt vehicle model has been highly anticipated by a lot of potent customers out there. Fortunately, the American automaker has made the right decision to officially take the veil off its second generation Chevrolet Volt during the 2015 CES event.
The car comes with a revised front fascia. This time, it has lower and upper front grilles. In addition to those grilles, the car also comes with modern LED daytime running lights on its front bumper. Looking at the sides of the car, a sloped roofline is clearly visible. Well, hopefully, this does not necessarily mean narrow headroom for the rear seat passengers. At a glance, the car looks kind of like the Honda Civic, though, to be honest.
The 2016 Chevrolet Volt will reportedly come with improved acceleration, noise reduction, less vibration, reduced harshness and also a more capable steering system. In addition to all those elements, the car will have a drive with twin motors. This drive is 45 kg less heavy than that on the vehicle’s predecessor. However, it has an increased efficiency of 5-12%.
A 1.5L 4-cylinder engine is known to be available as well. It will reportedly have a direct injection system, a compression ratio of 12.5:1 and also recirculation of exhaust fumes that have cooled down.
One of the most important components of an electric vehicle is definitely the battery. In this case, the 2016 Chevy Volt will make use of a battery that the American automaker has jointly developed with the LG Chem, a South Korean company. It is said to store 20% more energy despite its lighter weight when compared to its predecessor.
