Mathias Muller, Porsche’s new boss said that the German car maker could share platforms and technology with Bentley, although the Germans are a bit scared about Bentley building a rival for the Panamera. Porsche wants to improve its economy and that is why they have decided to sell technology to Bentley. The Panamera platform could also be given to a new 928, a car that will be a perfect rival to Mercedes-Benz CL and the Bentley Continental GT.
Muller has also confirmed that they are thinking of making more versions of the Panamera. It has been confirmed that they are thinking of making a convertible version. When asked about the partnership with the British builder, Muller said that they still have to meet several times in order to see if the Bentley bosses are O.K with the idea of putting together performance and engineers.
Muller also said that: “We have to look at our competitors, and our internal competitors. Maybe there is a Bentley; we have to look at whether the Porsche can fit in with the strategy there. It would be stupid to have a car, a derivative, which substitutes, or is substituted, to 100 per cent by another brand.”
