During the test run of the 1972 Lancia Stratos in its rejuvenated form at the Alfa Romeo’s Balocco test track in northern Italy, photographs of the car was taken.
To be revealed later this year the remake version would be based on the Ferrari F430 Scuderia from which it takes the running gear and structure. A car lover and an industrialist it seems was the person responsible for providing funds for this project and the finished product is intended for the individual’s personal use. There is however possibility that some few more exclusive units would be made for other customers. Natural to expect the price to be as exclusive as the car. The inspiration for this entire dream has come from the 2005 remake by Fenomenon design consultancy and which was displayed at the 2005 Geneva Motor Show.
There were multiple design houses which had bid for undertaking this task and off them Pininfarina won. Jason Castriota had worked on the design of the car during his tenure at Pininfarnia and then later transferred the same to Bertone. The car was being test driven by Tiago Monteiro who is a famed ex-F1 driver.
Performance wise too the car is unique and has taken over many benchmarks of its own setting. There was speculation rife about the car but as yet it is not certain if the car would have the Lancia badge or a Stratos one.
Seems that a Scuderia was used as the donor car. The wheel base being of aluminum F430 space frame structure and supposedly reduced to right proportions. The original startos had a very short wheel base.
