Dodge Celebrates its 100th Birthday!

by SpeedLux

Dodge celebrated its 100th birthday recently. Over this period Dodge has changed a lot. It’s fascinating that the actual Dodge brothers died in 1920 and that famous Dodge name carries through to this day. Dodge has been through it all and has adapted throughout their 100 years to stay competitive.

Chrysler brought Dodge in 1928 but continued to market the cars as Dodge. Dodge cars became synonymous with dependability, and the Dodge brothers themselves coined that term we hear so often as early as 1916. The rich history of Dodge is fascinating and during World War II they even produced war materials.

Dodge continued to adapt their cars throughout the 50s and 60s with more high powered cars, that began to establish Dodge as a real performance brand. They even adapted during the ‘muscle car’ era to stay competitive by focussing on cars with large engines. However, when the oil crisis hit in 1973, they refocused their attention on fuel efficient cars. If Dodge hadn’t adapted it is hard to imagine we would be here today celebrating a rich 100 year history.

This info-graphic from Crossline Motors West tells the dodge story from the beginning to the present day. It shows how Dodge adapted throughout their 100 years and identifies important milestones throughout each period of Dodge Cars.
