Chassis Number 0024M is the rare race bred unit of the 1949 Ferrari 166MM touring Barchetta that is going to be up on display at the RM Auctions at their 2011 collector car auction season. This particular car is the latest attraction for sale at Arizona in the January 20 -21, 2011 sales period. This unit is one of the rarest and one of the most early models of the Ferrari that was initially in the Argentinean racing colors which is yellow and blue. This car has been owned and participated in many memorable and honorable races in the Ferrari world. The car had made its racing debut at the 1950 Mar Del Plata in Argentina and had finished first in the overall racing event.
The car had also participated in the 1951 Mille Migila event and there the driver was a female participant named Aprile Palmer. Soon after the event the lady had even purchased the car. Presently the car is done up in red and has its original components fitted which includes the chassis, numbers-matching engine, gearbox and differential. The estimate of the car would be available at the auction house.
The Founder of RM Auctions, Rob Myers stated that his auction house had been offering more important and historic Ferrari’s than any other auction house. He and his auction house were therefore a privileged one to be able to offer the great Ferrari series at the Arizona sales that is scheduled in Jan next year. He also added the special attraction of the forthcoming auction being the 166MM, s/n 0024 M, which is a rare collector’s item. He added that with its famed Mille Miglia event participation this particular unit was eligible for participating in any other event open to historic Ferrari’s.
