General Motors CEO Mary Barra is set to meet with White House economic adviser Larry Kudlow on Monday, hours following the company’s announcement strategies to shutter five North American plants and slash thousands of jobs, two people knowledgeable about the matter stated.
Barra was also making calls to major members of Congress and administration officials on the restructuring strategy that consists of halting production at assembly plants located in Ohio and Michigan and two propulsion plants and slashing 15 percent of North American salaried jobs, or about 8,000 positions.
General Motors and the White House refused to comment on the planned meeting.
