General Motors said on Tuesday it would make an investment of $71 million for establishing a new campus in Pasadena, California for expanding its capacity in advanced technologies like flying cars and lunar rover vehicles.
The campus will be used for the automaker’s advanced design center operations which focus on developing concepts and future mobility projects that fall outside the scope of the current production vehicle programs.
The automaker said the campus will include an innovation laboratory and immersive technology capabilities.
The new site is closer to technology centers on the West Coast and forms a recruiting opportunity with its proximity to top universities and design schools, the automaker said.
The investments come as the automaker engages in various technological developments in recent times.
