Three people were killed in a crash in Salisbury, Rowan County, North Carolina on Monday afternoon.

The two-car crash took place around 1:30 p.m. on Highway 601 near Young Road.

About three people have been killed in the crash.

One vehicle caught fire.

Official say a Ford passenger car tried to pass another car at a curve on Highway 601 in Salisbury and crashed head-on with another car, resulting in the death of a driver and a passenger.

The driver of the Ford was killed as well.

No identities of the victims have been released as of yet.

Roads were closed as the officials investigated the crash.
