Automotive enthusiasts around the globe must have been waiting eagerly for the upcoming Detroit Auto Show to actually start opening its doors to the public come 2015. Aware of the high enthusiasms that will be present at the Detroit Auto Show, the Japanese automaker, Honda, has officially announced that it is going to present its highly anticipated FCV Concept to the event. It will be the first time ever the vehicle greets the North American public.
Sporting very futuristic styling cues, the new Honda FCV Concept gets its power from a hydrogen fuel cell stack. This will help the vehicle to reach a distance of 300 miles on a single charge. The Japanese automaker also claims that five minutes will be enough already to refuel the car’s energy source.
The new FCV Concept from the Japanese car manufacturer is known to have the ability to take five people altogether on a single ride. This has seemingly been made possible by the small size of the fuel cell stack. This time, the fuel cell has been made smaller compared to before. As a result, Honda has been able to fit the fuel cell stack into the engine hood of the vehicle completely. This is not like before. In the past, the company did not really have any choice but to create a tunnel that measured as long as the car into which the fuel cell stack would be fitted. There are numerous advantageous that Honda can expect by applying this new technology. Thanks to its considerably small size, the company is least likely to come across any issues while trying to fit the fuel cell stack into other vehicle models it has in its lineups. With that being said, this may even completely redirect the automotive brand to another path.
Now, for those interested in seeing the new Honda FCV Concept first hand, they should really pay a visit to the Detroit Auto Show. However, for those who want to purchase this particular vehicle from Honda, they will most likely have to wait at least until March 2016, when the car finally goes on sale in Japan, its home country.
