Since a mid-life cycle facelift used virtually two years ago, Honda plans to introduce a new generation of the CR-V within the next 1 year and 6 months.

The car is expected to be based upon a new platform and grow in size over its predecessor to include a third row of seats for the first time, it will have the ability to target the 7-seaters like Nissan X-Trail, Kia Sorento and Hyundai Sante Fe, among others.

In Europe, the next Honda CR-V is stated to get the 1.5-liter i-VTEC turbo and upgraded 1.6-liter diesel, which were currently validated by the maker, along with a modified 2.0-liter petrol. A plug-in hybrid will not be part of the package, by a regular hybrid continues to be in the cards. Base models will get FWD and a six-speed manual transmission, while more costly grades will gain from 4WD and a 9-speed automobile gearbox.

The North American design will also get a tuned version of the new Civic’s 174hp 1.5-liter turbocharged four as an option, with the existing 2.4-liter system anticipated to continue as the base offering. If there’s a hybrid, it will surely be provided in America.

Honda has begun checking the CR-V in the United States, where it’s anticipated to go on sale at the end of 2017, while in Europe, the car ought to show up a few months later.
