Luxgen is a small Taiwanese automaker that plans to get world-wide recognition by launching several interesting models. Among these models is the Luxgen5 Sedan, Luxgen’s first Sedan.
The Luxgen5 Sedan is actually a production version of the Neora EV concept revealed at the 2011 Shanghai Motor Show. It is announced to be released at the 2012 April Taipei Motor Show.
According to the Taiwanese automaker, this vehicle was built with safety as main purpose. It has been fitted with a frame made in collaboration with the Americans from Altair, and some of the safety tests were designed by Mira (a U.K. organization specialized in car safety). Some of the features include ABS, ESP, TCS and a HUD display (initially used in airplanes then brought to the car industry).
On the inside, the driver can control some of the car’s functions like the Audio system and the navigation system by using the Luxgen Think+Touch 9 inch touchscreen, which has been developed together with a smartphone company.
There are two engine options available a 1.8-liter WT Turbo 4 cylinder gasoline engine, capable of delivering 150 horsepower and 230 Nm, and a 2.0-liter VW Turbo with 170 horsepower and 256 Nm. Both get automatic transmission (the 1.8 a five-gear, and the 2.0 a six-gear). Performance has been rated as follows: 0-60 in 8.3 seconds, and a top speed of 210 km/h.
