McLaren readying F1 successor for a 2012 launch

by Alex

A successor to the F1 supercar is the next surprise that McLaren is going to spring upon us after the MP4-12C, with its debut fixed for 2012. AutoCar source magazine has labeled this car as a “revolutionary hypercar and one which will be instantly recognizable as such.”

Built on carbon fiber monocoque similar to the MP4-12C the new F1 is going to be a mid-engined modeled car. Though the design is radical yet the future car would bear close resemblance as a McLaren F1 and would be recognized as one. The driving seats are also going to be central ones as it was in the case of its predecessor.

McLaren is going to search for weight reduction methods with this model and look for an engine that provides outstanding performance while giving improved fuel consumption rates. The new car is expected to break world speed records that have been set by 2011 Bugatti Veyron 164 Super Sport.

Also, the new model will be the third to grace the McLaren line-up and the good thing is, the car will be sold as a regular series model unlike its predecessor.
