The 2015 North American International Auto Show, or the Detroit Auto Show, has already kicked off. As such, it is only appropriate for Mercedes-Benz to fulfill its promise of revealing the C350 plug-in hybrid. The car has now made its official debut at the 2015 Detroit Auto Show stage.
This is not the first plug-in hybrid model from the German company. Before this, it had also introduced the S500 plug-in hybrid. Then, after these two models, the company will reportedly offer customers with another eight plug-in hybrid vehicle models as well. It is said that the company will be introducing all eight models within three years’ time.
The Mercedes-Benz C350 plug-in hybrid is going to come with a 7-speed 7G-TRONIC automatic transmission and power will be sent to the rear wheels of the vehicle. Inside its engine bay, the car is going to hide a 2.0L 4-cylinder engine that is accompanied by an electric motor of the brushless type. As a result, the car promises up to 208 bhp when it comes to power and 349 Nm when it comes to torque. The time window required by the car to hit the mark of 100 km/h moving from a still position is 5.9 seconds. In addition to that, it is a piece of cake for the vehicle to go beyond the mark of 246 km/h.
Mercedes-Benz has also equipped the vehicle with a 6.2kWh lithium-ion battery pack, complete with a watercooling system. According to Mercedes, it is going to take the car some two hours to have its lithium-ion battery completely recharged.
The German company will be more than pleased to take orders for the Mercedes-Benz C350 plug-in hybrid starting from the next couple of days. However, shipment will not commence until at least the third month of this year and the vehicle will be officially badged as the C350e.
