The latest sedan to fall into the hands of the German tuning firm VÄTH is the Mercedes Benz CL500 C216 coupe. And what they have managed to do with the car is truly worthy of praise. To begin with, the tuning specialists have been able to achieve a higher power output from the 5.5 liter V8 engine. They have been able to pull this off by way of some smart modification which includes incorporating sport camshafts, stainless steel sport catalysts and air filters. As a result of this, output has been elevated from 388 HP to 460 HP with a peak torque output of 600 Nm. VÄTH makes it a point to remove the speed limiter that allows the modified CL500 to reach a top speed of 290 km/h or 180 mph.
The assimilation of three way adjustable sports suspension and a braking system, that has a high performance index, adds to the improvement in the handling. The chassis of the sedan now rests on a set of 20 inch forged alloy wheels with 245/30ZR20 tires, fitted at the front and 285/25ZR20, fitted at the rear axle.
The front spoiler lip, a brand new rear diffuser, and a boot lid spoiler all made of carbon fiber enhance the visual aspect of the sedan. As far as the interior of the car is concerned, VÄTH’s alterations make inclusions of carbon fiber trim, a customized bespoke steering wheel and a fresh meter to measure the speed.
