Just a few hours earlier, Mercedes-Benz, a luxury German automaker, previewed a new vehicle dubbed the F 015 Luxury in Motion. Now, the German company has even released more official details and images in respect to the car. In addition to that, the German car maker even goes so far as to claim that this new vehicle it has introduced is a luxury sedan that drives itself. As it turns out, the German automaker releases this luxurious autonomous vehicle model as a response to the recently increasing trend in terms of autonomous vehicles.
The Mercedes-Benz F015 Luxury in Motion concept vehicle comes in a shape that looks like an egg. It measures 5,220 mm in length, 2,018 mm in width and 1,524 mm in height. The wheelbase has a moderate length of 3,610 mm.
There is one thing that looks very unique about this particular vehicle from the German company, it does not have any B pillars at all. Mercedes-Benz claims that this is to give passengers easier access to the car cabin, which feels more like a lounge. Additionally, the doors of the vehicle open at a degree measuring ninety angles.
Stepping into the cabin of the vehicle, passengers can expect four lounge chairs that are rotatable. The seats can be arranged such that they face one another. What is even more interesting is that these seats – which are powered electrically – will directly swing by 30 degrees outwards whenever the doors are opened. Then, on the dashboard, there are at least six individual displays to be found. Unlike most devices, these displays support not only touch or gesture input but they even track the eye movements of the passengers inside the vehicle.
Under the hood, Mercedes-Benz is offering a hydrogen electric fuel cell plug-in engine. The German automaker claims that this engine will take the car up to a total distance of 1,100 km. There are also two electric motors installed on the vehicle and these motors offer 134 hp and 199 Nm of power and torque. As a result, the Mercedes-Benz F 015 Luxury in Motion concept vehicle is capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in just 6.7 seconds. Top speed is electrically limited to only 200 km/h.
