Mercedes Benz has been a traditional partner of the US Tennis Association (USTA). The sport car manufacturer has planned to provide all of the participant players and the VIPs of the 2010 US Open tournament with an opportunity to use any unit from a fleet of vehicles. This fleet of vehicles includes Mercedes-Benz F-CELL and Mercedes-Benz S400 HYBRID sedans. The 75 S400 Hybrid is likely to represent 60 percent of the total fleet of cars offered by Mercedes for the event. Mercedes-Benz will provide these vehicles for both players and VIPs participating in the event.
The US Open tennis events are part of USTA’s environmental program that was started in 2007. Generally, USTA features environment friendly vehicles in the event. The event also features application of recycling, energy management, and composting and utilizing paper products made of at least 30 percent post-consumer waste. The event will also host a PSA campaign that is hosted by the Hollywood actor Alec Baldwin.
The USTA’s environment friendly program would be used as a platform by Mercedes to put a series of measures that is intended to promote eco-mobility into practice. It has been reported that Mercedes-Benz is quite excited about the company’s participation in the tennis event organized by USTA.
Stephen Cannonsa is the vice president of Marketing for Mercedes-Benz USA. He could not resist expressing how excited he was about the entire event and the company’s participation in the event that is nothing but the representation of the USTA’s environmental strategy. Stephen also reportedly expressed his hope that the Mercedes-Benz transportation fleet will “positively impact the US Open green initiatives.”
