If you remember correctly, the luxury German automaker, Mercedes-Benz, made an announcement somewhere in November 2014 that it was going to launch a new vehicle, which would potentially bear the AMG GT3 moniker. Well, it seems that the vehicle is nearing reality as the German company has now officially shown the public a couple of design sketches that seem to depict the vehicle in question. It is more than likely that the car will make its debut next month at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show.
According to the German automaker, the upcoming vehicle model will take the place of the company’s SLS AMG GT3 model. In addition to that, the car will also enter the race track when the 2016 racing season kicks off. Of course, with that being said, Mercedes will have no option but to make sure that the car actually meets the FIA GT3 standards.
Judging by the look of the vehicle in the design sketches, it will most likely bear a wide body and flared wheel arches. Other notable components will include additional air vents as well as a largely sized fixed rear wing, the latter is intended to provide the rear axle of the vehicle with more downforce.
So far, there have yet to be any technical details. However, the details should unfold in just under one month. After all, as mentioned earlier, the Mercedes-AMG is determined to bring the vehicle to this year’s Geneva Motor Show. Then, after that, according to the German company, the car will undergo intensive development and evaluation period. The purpose is pretty simple, to ready the car for the racing season of next year. Last but not least, taking into consideration that the information has come from Mercedes-AMG itself via the official company’s blog, this information should be quite trustworthy.
