The luxury German automaker, Mercedes-Benz, has officially made it clear to everyone out there its plans to provide the citizens of the United States with its new Metris van model. Well, to be honest, this car is basically a rebadged version of the Mercedes-Benz Vito. According to reports, you will be able to start placing your order for this vehicle model in particular beginning from September this year. Reports also suggest that the vehicle in question will be counting on a 1.9L 4-cylinder turbo engine. This engine is believed to be well capable of bursting out 211 PS and 350 Nm of power and torque, respectively.
So far, however, the German marquee does not seem to be willing enough to share what kind of spec sheets that the vehicle will be coming with. Only, the company has made an official confirmation hinting that airbags will now be available for both the driver and front passenger as well. The same goes for the seatbelt warning system.
In addition to the Metris van, it turns out that the German company is also planning to introduce a passenger van variant, the Mercedes-Benz Metris Tourer. This one, in comparison with the Metris van mentioned earlier, is reportedly going to feature no less than eight airbags in total. Additionally, buyers of the Metris van will also be eligible for a tire pressure monitoring system, the Crosswind Assist feature and also the Attention Assist feature, regardless of whether they opt for the regular or the Tourer variant of the aforementioned van model.
In addition to unveiling its upcoming Metris van, Mercedes-Benz has also taken the opportunity to unveil to the public that it is going to build the next generation Sprinter model at its new plant. Yes, that is the one located at Charleston, South Carolina, USA. According to the German marquee, this will help the company dodge complex disassembly process as well as import duties of the Sprinter as the company will no longer have to build the car in Germany but right within the US itself instead.
