Dr Uwe Ernstberger has recently revealed that Mercedes will offer an S-Class EV while speaking in a recent interview.
Speaking to one of the auto magazines Top Gear, Ernstberger confirmed that a complete electric car will be done in the future. However, the model is likely a ways off as he explained that they still have to work on the capacities of the batteries to get a better package in the car because one would not want to lose all the comfort features of an S-Class for transporting a battery only.
The executive further revealed that the S-Class is a natural candidate for an advanced autonomous driving system but the company is still debating on how far they can push the technology in the short term.
While Ernstberger declined to talk about additional S-Class variants, Mercedes design chief Gordon Wagener has already said that they already have such a big beautiful coupe [which is the S-Class Coupe], so let rumors of an S-Class Cabriolet rise and he really not much problems with it.
So let the time come and only in future will we come to know about the concrete plans of the company for the electric car and till then lets keep guessing.
