The Hummer Trucks have become a very common sight nowadays. These powerful machines are the trademark of General Motors and are a testament to the extent of the hold that the company once had on the auto mobile industry. However, in the past two to three years, the Hummer trucks have gone through a really distraught period with board room fights and the dispute over the rights. Because of its extensive use in the military and the power that is allocated in the truck, the Hummer trucks could not possibly be withdrawn from the assembly line. But, the axe has fallen and it was officially revealed by General Motors that the Hummer trucks would no longer be manufactured after the 2010 model.
This announcement came due to a number of reasons however. First, the bankruptcy issues that revolved around General Motors made a huge contribution to this decision, and Hummer have been withdrawn from manufacture. It was first decided that the rights of the truck would be auctioned to the highest bidder, but then it was announced by Chinese Automaker Sichuan Tengzhong Heavy Industrial Machinery Company that they would acquire the rights of the powerful truck in 2009.
But, the Ministry of Commerce in China rejected that deal in the February of 2010. It was reported that the Chinese giants might further pursue the case but nothing as such materialized and General Motors now decided to liquidize the whole line of Hummers. During it’s time, the Hummer has enjoyed tremendous success and has become one of the most popular cars ever manufactured by General Motors. Such type of cars actually made the image of the company and established it as one of the heavyweights of the automobile industry. Hummer also featured in the popular smash hit, Transformers.
