The first round of the World Endurance championship at Silverstone is about to start and already things are heating up, as many teams jostle to secure their final driver line ups.
Aston Martin Racing team confirmed their plans that the former Peugot factory driver Pedro Lamy will make return to racing an Aston at the opening round. Lamy last raced in an Aston in the 2005-06 season and this time he will pilot one of two GTE Pro entries. Infact Lamy had been confirmed as Aston Martin’s fifth driver for the 24 Hours of Le Mans Series to be held in June, alongside Canadian sportscar driver Paul Dalla Lana.
Both drivers had earlier raced for the factory Aston squad at the 12 Hours of Sebring in the previous month. Aston stated that the signings are a part of a new and shuffled line-up for Silverstone race and are a reaction to performance and data observations gleaned from Sebring.
Infact Aston Martin has this time opted for three drivers instead of the minimum two, for the opening round of the WEC at Silverstone next week.
