Recently we had come across the spy images of the model which we assumed would be a 911 GT2 but it seems that our assumption was not correct as the Porsche 911 boss August Achleitner has recently indicated that it could be something else altogether.
In an interview with Car & Driver, Achleitner said that the model hasn’t been green-lighted yet for the production phase as it is being held up by company politics and some technical issues. Elaborating further on the technical hitches, Achleitner further said “If you take a look at todays Turbo S and the performance this car produces . . . you cut away the front-wheel drive for the GT2, but the car loses traction.” The loss of traction would result in making the GT2 slower than the Turbo S, and so this could be the reason why some people within the company don’t see the need for the model.
Despite the possibility of not offering another GT2, Achleitner also hinted that there were some rumors about a GT3 RS or something like this but did not elaborate much on it.
