The Porsche 918 Spyder has had the distinction of breaking records of some sort whenever it is launched or unveiled. It did so at Geneva and now it’s set to do once again given its price which starts at $630,000, if rumors are anything to go by. The issue to be noted is not the high cost but rather the low cost it is being set up for.
There is reason enough to state $630,000 as low. Given the features of the car given the cost of other cars of similar genre the price would finally prove to be low. This 918 Spyder is a hybrid car that can boast of supercar performance. It can do speeds of 78 mpg and that too with the capability to move on electric power alone to make that speed. The closest similar vehicle that comes to this is the Audi E-tron or the possibly SLS AMG electric version. Yet neither of them comes close to the performance of the 918 Spyder.
If we also try a comparison with the Aston Martin One-77 we would find the Aston starts at $1.7 million and only then can make same speed as the 918 Spyder. The top speed though of the Aston is 20 mph or approximates more than the Spyder which is rated at 198 mph top speed. Looks wise too the Spyder far out does all other cars as its looks have been taken to a great extent from the Carrera GT.
One would be able to buy three or four Ferraris for the price of one 918 Spyder which is $630,000. It’s a pondering question whether the balance off is worth it or not.
