Car fans out there should notice that hybrid vehicles are becoming more and more popular these days. Therefore, it is not a surprise when more automakers start to grow interest in the hybrid vehicle business and Porsche may well be one of the automakers with such an interest. According to Matthias Muller, CEO Porsche, there is always a probability that the next generation 911 will come with a hybrid system.
Considering the words from the mouth of Muller, some people believe that the next 911 model that Porsche will be introducing in the year 2018 may prove to be a hybrid vehicle, unlike the previous generations of the 911 lineups. Furthermore, the CarAdvice reports that Porsche, as Muller claims, has taken this probability into consideration. When the CarAdvice asked Muller if there would possibly be a petrol-electric Porsche 911, his response was simple yet solid, ‘of course, why not?’ However, a final word has yet to come from Porsche.
Just as a reminder, Muller says that it is possible for Porsche to build such a hybrid car, even if it is the company’s 911 model. However, the company will have to have good reasons before it can even decide to build such a hybrid vehicle. Nevertheless, Muller unveils that Porsche is currently planning to offer customers with hybrid versions of the Cayman as well as the Boxster. Yet, for the beginning, both models will have a 4-cylinder engine under their hood. Speaking of the 4-cylinder engine, Porsche has headed back this direction ever since it launched the Macan. The latter features a 2.0L engine with turbocharger. This makes the car capable of putting out 237 hp in total in terms of power output. Of course, the hybrid version of the 911, if any, will pack even more horsepower than that of the Macan when it finally comes to the market.
