Porsche is going to update the current 911 RSR. This will be the second update for the 911 RSR. The car will probably feature a new mid engine design. It will be powered by a naturally aspirated engine that generate a maximum power of over 500 hp. The engine is similar to that of 911 GT3 RS. The car is light and weight only 2,689 pounds. One prominent feature is that there is a 6.5 foot wing on the rear of the bumper. Although the car is longer by 3.27 inches, it now offers better weight distribution and handling. The new model will offer higher aerodynamic performance. There are a few vents in the taillights.
The safety features of the car have been improved in a number of ways. The polycarbnate windows are detachable. Customers can upgrade the car with features such as escape roof hatch and removable seat. It will also feature a splitter that is compliant with the IMSA.
The car will offer better fuel consumption. Dr. Frank Steffen Walliser, the CEO of Porsche Motorsport, stated that the 2016 911 RSR will meet all the new safety standards. They will probably be making an announcement on the 2016 911 RSR next year.
