British automaker Radical is a not very well known company, that specializes in designing and making super-sport cars, that are legal to drive on the streets, even though they look like they should be allowed only to ride on the track. They never managed to reveal any of their projects at major automotive events outside of the U.K., which makes the Frankfurt unveiling a major event not only for the company itself, but for the fans as well.
The model that has made a real show at the event is the furious SR3 SL, a model that came out only a few months ago, impressing the visitors with its extreme look and engine power. Talking about engine, this one is a 300-hp version of the 2,000cc Ford-RPE EcoBoost that powers the Focus ST. Radical has modified it in their own “kitchen”, and so now it seems a bit enhanced. It is mated to a 6-speed paddle-shift sequential transmission, and at only 1,500 lbs, the SR3 SL is definitely able to show some performance boost.
Interesting the idea Radical had, in creating cars that seem fit for the track but are to drive on the streets, makes us, the ones that aspire to a bit of the racing feeling, to actually have a shot at it.
