Aston Martin has reportedly signed a contract with Ford which will ensure their Ford-built engines stay around for another five years.
The company declined to confirm the development but, if the reports are correct, it likely indicates there won’t be any radical changes in the near future. However, there is no clarity yet if the deal will have any impact on Aston Martin’s partnership talks with Daimler.
Unofficial there are speculations that suggest Aston Martin wanted to extend their engine agreement with Ford to ensure their supply wouldn’t be interrupted if the proposed Daimler deal – which reportedly calls for jointly-developing engines and electrical components – goes through.
The Ford deal would also give Aston Martin plenty of time to integrate Daimler-sourced engines into their product lineup as well.
