A Tesla Model X owner has claimed that his one week old SUV accelerated by itself in a parking lot and autonomously crashed into a building at high-speed. Incident took place in Irvine, California.
Tesla Model X owner, Puzant Ozbag, published his story on the Tesla forum this recently, he wrote:-
Our 5 day old Tesla X today while entering a parking stall suddenly and unexpectedly accelerated at high speed on its own climbing over 39 feet of planters and crashing into a building.
The airbags deployed and my wife’s arms have burn marks as a consequence.
This could have easily been a fatal accident if the car’s wheels were not turned slightly to the left. If they were straight, it would have gone over the planters and crashed into the store in front of the parking stall and injured or killed the patrons.
The driver included that the velocity was unmanageable during the incident which it seemed to be accelerating at maximum speed. He said that the automobile only stopped because it struck the building.
It sounds like his vehicle had not been entirely parked, therefore not using the ‘Summon’ feature, and entering into a parking space, for that reason not on Autopilot. Nonetheless, person’s claim that the automobile sped up on its own will likely be connected to the Autopilot although there’s no proof that the feature was being utilized throughout the crash.
Puzant states that he contacted his delivery expert who referred him to Tesla’s roadside support service.
In his post simply hours after the crash, he also noted that Tesla must stop Model X deliveries and he triggered anybody with a similar experience to contact him straight.
