Tesla Motors has been quite mysterious since the beginning with their Model X SUV which was initially unveiled in February 2012 but due to many delays it has taken the company some time in introducing it into the market. However rumors suggest that the US based automaker is set to launch their Model X SUV in China. The fully electric vehicle is ready to be in China by the first half of 2016 which will be first introduced in the US market this quarter. Tesla Motors has already launched their Model S in the Chinese market and have used a lot of resources in the electric vehicle segment for Chinese consumers. Even though the Model S has not seen substantial growth due to concerns over the ease of charging, the Model X SUV is expected to double Tesla’s sales volume as per CEO Elon Musk.
According to Gary Tao the spokesperson of Tesla China, the company is also ready to open five to six new showrooms in China before the end of the year, that means that the total number of showrooms Tesla would obtain in China would be around 15. The locations of these showrooms would be at the center of mega-cities such as Beijing Shangai and Guangzhou. Moreover, Tesla has shown great efforts in creating the demand of their vehicles by constructing more than 1,400 charging stations in China and plans to fulfill the goal of creating a complete industry chain in China within three years. Tesla now has more than 1,400 destination charging stations in China and is continuously increasing its number of superchargers. Tesla China’s CEO, Tom Zhu, said the company plans to fulfill the goal of creating a complete industry chain in China within three years.
