Three people were killed after the crash between a car and HGV on the A828 near Castle Stalker, in the Appin area, at around 14:30 on Friday.
It happened on the Oban to Fort William road.
One person was arrested.
It is not known about the men who were in a silver Honda Civic.
A fourth man, who was also an occupant in the car, was admitted to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow with serious injuries.
Officers said the 47-year-old, said to be the driver of the HGV, was arrested due to a road traffic offense and released pending further inquiries.
Officials have asked anybody with information about the incident to come forward.
