It seems that the cold war between Honda and Toyota or any other brand will not end ever as after the recent unveiling of the production ready Fit / Jazz hybrid by Honda has triggered Toyota for a big and modified fight of the hybrids. And it seems that Toyota is not at all tensed or frightened by the recent drop of the sales of the Hybrids and so they plan to launch six all new hybrids in the market by the end of 2012, and it is expected that one of these six would be a Vitz / Yaris hybrid.
Recently in a presentation meeting with the Detroit on Monday the Toyota Executive Vice President Mr. Takeshi Uchiyamada proclaimed that among those six models that are about to be unveiled would be all brand new Hybrids and they would not be an next generation models of previous hybrids, and he even said that of these six two of the models are meant for Lexus and rest four would carry the tag of Toyota on it.
Whereas some of the models of these six models would be hybrid only models (i.e. there will be no gasoline-only variant), and even Uchiyamada did not budge as to what is the body type or segment these new vehicles would be.
This staunch car maker has Okayed on the production of an all electric vehicle which would be jointly made with Tesla (makers of the all electric Roadster) and this is set to flame up the rivalry with Nissan’s Leaf EV. But he has confirmed to us that this vehicle would surely find its way out at the 2010 Los Angeles Motor Show. And it seems that this all electric version might be the same that was previously stated by the automaker that they were working on.
And this production comes with an stringing call that they would be producing 11 million vehicles globally which may hurt the brands image drastically on the terms of reliability but it seems that Uchiyamada has made some arrangements for the plant, he has made a set of 100 engineers who would audit these production lines.
