Toyota Motorsport GmbH announces the GT86 CS-R3 rally car

Toyota Motorsport GmbH has recently announced its plans to build a new GT86 CS-R3 rally car.

Designed for customer racing teams, the GT86 CS-R3 will be developed by the company to comply with R3 regulations and claims to be ready for the 2015 season. The company has not given details with respect to pricing and specifications of the model but TMG did confirm that the model will come equipped with a six-speed sequential transmission, a limited slip differential and high-performance brakes. The company also stated that the engine will be upgraded to produce the maximum level permitted within the regulations.

According to Principal Engineer of Customer Motorsport, Nico Ehlert, the GT86 CS-R3 promises to be a thrilling car on the rally stages; with rear-wheel drive one can expect some more dramatic action which is sure to be entertaining for drivers and fans alike. He further stated that the company will draw on their experience from the GT86 CS-V3 race car to create a reliable, safe and high-performance car, plus all the required technical support, for their customers.

The GT86 CS-R3 will be eligible to compete in all FIA-sanctioned rallies and that includes the World Rally Championship.
